Guarantee of Origin
Guarantee of Origin (GoO) is the official standard to certify the renewable origin of electricity in Europe. While 30 countries in Europe form the AIB market, single countries are trading own national Guarantees of Origin (e.g. Poland). With a unique serial number, the avoidance of double counting is assured. With the information stated on the guarantee of origin (production date, location, technology, commissioning date and installed capacity of the power plant), specifications of every certificate can be guaranteed. Additionality can be improved by procuring special labels, comprising strict criteria for the production of green electricity, extra funds and social improvements in the surrounding area. Unbundled from the physical electricity, one guarantee of origin always represents the injection of on MWh of green electricity into the grid.
