ABOUT OPERATIONS
The operations function forms the backbone of any company. At STX, the Operations team, which comprises IT, Finance, Human Resources, and Middle Office, works closely with all other teams and desks to ensure that STX continues to perform and deliver at an exceptionally high level. As a critical partner in the business, Operations also guarantees compliance with all the relevant rules and regulations. Moreover, the Operations team works collaboratively to make sure that STX has the necessary structures and processes in place to grow and develop further in new products, industries, and markets.
TEAM AND ROLE
We are looking for an experienced Senior Legal Counsel (m/f/d), qualified in any U.S. jurisdiction, to provide comprehensive legal support for our U.S. based trading business. The 2 strong legal team is led by the Deputy General Counsel – U.S. The U.S. based team is part of global legal team based in the Netherlands, which consists of 17 lawyers, ultimately reporting to the Group General Counsel. The global legal team consists of three core departments, each headed by a Deputy General Counsel – (1) Trading (2) Corporate and (3) US activities. This position in the Trading team offers a unique opportunity to contribute to STX’s mission as traders of environmental progress, while working closely with a dynamic and international legal team.

Key Responsibilities
- Supporting our traders but also all other departments with drafting, reviewing, and negotiating various (international) commercial contracts.
- Providing clear written and verbal communication of legal advice to the business on a broad range of legal matters.
- Effective and efficient contract / negotiation management – including active prioritization, resource allocation and timely meeting of deadlines.
- Handling claims and disputes, as required.
- Liaising with and managing outside counsel.

Key Requirements
- Barred in any U.S. jurisdiction.
- 10+ years’ experience as a practicing lawyer in an in-house legal team supporting a trading desk or related law firm experience.
- Interest in environmental commodities trading industry and proven experience with drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial contracts.
- Excellent analytical and communication skills, high degree of professional ethics and integrity, an international mindset and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
