As a Sales Trader in the REC department, you will play a vital role in expanding our presence in the China market and driving the transition towards a greener future. Native Mandarin is essential for this role. 

 

Position Overview:  

We are seeking an experienced Sales Trader to join our REC team in a challenging and dynamic role. The successful candidate will be responsible for trading and brokering renewable energy certificates in the China market. This position requires an initial 18-month assignment in Singapore to gain comprehensive knowledge of REC trading and market dynamics before transitioning back to China. 

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Develop and execute trading strategies to maximize sales and profitability of renewable energy certificates in the China market. 
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key market participants, including renewable energy project developers, utilities, energy retailers, and institutional investors. Additionally, the successful candidate will also be involved in the trading and brokering of RECs in the China market. 
  • Monitor market trends, policy developments, and regulatory changes related to renewable energy in China, and assess their impact on RECs trading. 
  • Conduct market analysis and identify new business opportunities, including potential partnerships and collaborations in the Chinese renewable energy market. 
  • Negotiate and execute REC purchase and sale agreements with counterparties, ensuring compliance with market regulations and company policies. 
  • Collaborate with internal teams, such as risk management, operations, and legal, to ensure smooth execution and settlement of trades. 
  • Provide timely and accurate market insights to clients, including market updates, pricing trends, and supply-demand dynamics in the Chinese renewable energy market. 
  • Prepare regular reports and presentations on trading activities, market analysis, and performance metrics. 
  • Stay updated on industry best practices, market developments, and emerging technologies in the renewable energy sector, with a specific focus on the Chinese market. 

 

Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, economics, or a related field. A master’s degree is a plus. 
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in energy trading, preferably with a focus on renewable energy certificates or environmental markets. 
  • Strong understanding of the Chinese energy market, including knowledge of REC regulations, policies, and market participants. 
  • Proven track record in trading and brokering energy products, with a solid network of industry contacts in China. 
  • Excellent analytical and quantitative skills, with the ability to analyze market data, identify trends, and make informed trading decisions. 
  • Demonstrated negotiation and relationship management skills, with the ability to build and maintain productive partnerships. 
  • Proficiency in financial modeling and risk analysis, with a strong attention to detail. 
  • Effective communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex information to both technical and non-technical audiences. 
  • Flexibility and adaptability to work in a fast-paced and changing environment. 
  • Willingness to relocate to Singapore for a 6 to 18-month assignment, followed by relocation back to China.
