STX’s Traineeship is a 14 month rotational program designed to fast-track your career and immerse you in the exciting and dynamic world of environmental commodities. You’ll work in four different teams, starting with one of our operations teams before diving into three front-office rotations. During these rotations, you’ll take on various projects and tasks. You’ll gain commercial experience through activities like cold-calling, business development, and corporate account management. You’ll also build analytical skills with tasks such as trade analysis, research, and creating dashboards. This hands-on experience gives you a 360° view of the industry, helping you discover what excites you most.

ARE YOU OUR FUTURE AMSTERDAM TRAINEE? YOU ARE…
- Are analytical: ability to take information from large data sets and covert this into clear insights (through excel, python or other programing tool).
- And at the same time commercial: ability to identify (sales) opportunities. Driven by making profit and hitting targets.
- Have 0-1 year working experience in a full-time job.
- Get energy from a fast paced (learning) environment, where your entrepreneurial mindset is combined with high collaboration skills.

Key Requirements
- Graduated before September 2025 with a Master’s degree in Finance, Financial Economics, Econometrics, Quantitative Finance, or a commercially related field, including dual master’s programs.
- Fluent English is required – additional languages are a plus (Dutch not required).
- A strong interest and passion for both trading and environmental sectors.
- Proficiency in analytical skills, including Python and Excel.
- An entrepreneurial and commercially oriented mindset with a proactive and self-starting attitude.

Our recruitment process
Application & Assessment
Submit your CV, answer the motivational questions, and complete a 45-minute online assessment to kick things off! Please note that completing the online assessment has to be done within 5 calendar days after submitting your application. Deadline: March 15. We will get back to you on the outcome of your application via email in the week after the deadline.
First interview
You are through to the first round interview! This interview will take place at the end of March, for which you can schedule a timeslot using the link in the email. During this 15-minute virtual interview with our recruiters the goal is to get to know you better.
Second interview
Time to dive deeper! In a 1-hour interview, we’ll assess your competencies which are essential for the Traineeship program. This interview will take place during the second or third week of April and will be scheduled with you via a call.
Business Case
Get ready to shine! We’ll send you a business case to prepare at home, which you’ll present during a 1-hour interview in the office. The business case will take place at the end of April or beginning of May and will be scheduled with you via a call.
Offer
Congratulations, you are now an STX Trainee! We’ll send you the offer (midst of May) and warmly welcome you to STX.
