ABOUT THE TEAM
The Physical Operations team manages the logistical execution of STX’s physical biofuels, feedstocks and related products after a deal has been agreed. The team coordinates product movements, manages operational documentation and works closely with traders, terminals, transport companies, surveyors, agents and other internal and external stakeholders. The team’s objective is to make sure every transaction is executed safely, accurately, efficiently and in line with the agreed contractual terms.
The business is continuously developing, with new products, locations and logistical flows being added. This makes Physical Operations a dynamic environment where priorities can change quickly and practical problem-solving is important.

ABOUT THE ROLE
As a Junior Trade Operations Specialist, your initial focus will be the coordination of truck and container movements. You will support the execution of physical transactions from planning through to completion, working closely with experienced colleagues in the team.
As your experience develops, your responsibilities will gradually expand to other transport modes, including barges, vessels, rail and pipelines. The role therefore offers the opportunity to build a broad understanding of physical commodity logistics and trade operations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinate and monitor truck and container movements for biofuels, feedstocks and related products, from initial planning through to final delivery.
  • Prepare transport instructions and ensure accurate and timely communication with transport companies, terminals, warehouses, surveyors, agents and counterparties.
  • Process operational orders and coordinate the instruction and invoicing of logistics service providers.
  • Maintain accurate transaction, movement, inventory and documentation records in the relevant systems and operational files.
  • Proactively monitor deliveries, follow up on delays or discrepancies, and keep traders and other internal stakeholders informed.
  • Support the resolution of operational issues, identify opportunities to improve execution and reduce unnecessary costs, and gradually develop towards managing barges, vessels, rail and pipeline movements.

KEY REQUIREMENTS

  • Approximately 1–2 years of relevant experience in logistics, supply chain, transport coordination or trade operations. Relevant internships or strong entry-level experience will also be considered.
  • A completed vocational or higher education qualification, preferably in logistics, supply chain, business, transport or a related field.
  • A practical interest in physical logistics and international commodity trading, with basic knowledge of Incoterms considered an advantage.
  • Good written and spoken English, with a clear and proactive communication style.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple activities and changing priorities.
  • Comfortable working with systems, data and operational documentation, with a practical, solution-oriented mindset and the willingness to take ownership and follow through.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

  • Truck and container movements are planned and followed up accurately and on time.
  • Operational information and documentation are complete and correctly recorded.
  • Internal and external stakeholders receive clear and timely updates.
  • Issues are identified early and followed up proactively.
  • The employee gradually develops towards independently managing a broader range of physical logistics activities.
