ABOUT THE TEAM

“In the STX Policy Analysis Team, we visualize various low carbon voluntary opportunities and compliance obligations through the lens of market-based solutions. We inform policy makers of the most targeted and scalable solutions so that emission reductions are achieved via the most cost-efficient options. We also quickly analyze policy changes to sharpen and broaden our offering” – Wojciech Winkler VP Political Affairs

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Tracking, analyzing and piecing together various policies, legislation and early political signals and translating them into direct and indirect market or product effects across economic sectors
  • Assisting STX consultants and traders with executing transactions by advising on respective policies
  • Proactively proposing new deal / position structures and transactions
  • Thought leadership: synthesizing intel into strategic market positioning
  • Promoting and demonstrating STX thought leadership internally to senior managers, at national and international conferences, debates, industry association policy negotiations and client meetings
  • Assisting Managers in developing and executing strategic market plays
  • Conducting cursory regulatory due diligence on trading/position strategies

KEY REQUIREMENTS

  • At least 5 years of working experience in consulting on low carbon transport or policy affairs
  • Basic understanding of macroeconomic drivers affecting input costs and prices of commodities related to low carbon transport
  • Demonstrated exposure to environmental commodities, renewable energy, or electricity in the context of any transport mode is a must, road transport is desired
  • Experience in liaising with NGOs, trade associations is a must. Similar experience interacting with the relevant governmental institutions is desired
  • Demonstrated analytical and strategic thinking, culminating in thought-leadership
  • Demonstrated ability communicating legislative developments and the consequent business impacts to senior level management
  • Entrepreneurial attitude and willingness to develop and execute new ideas
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher
  • Fluent in English and German at a business level
  • Based near Amsterdam or Hamburg or willing to relocate there
  • Knowledge of DE legislation such as 37 of BImSchG, UERV, 38 of BImSchV, BEHG, ENERGIESTG is a must; knowledge of EEG network charges and green H2 is desired

ROLE OF A BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER

As a Business Development Manager, you play an important role in driving the business forward and will have an active role in the growth of the company. In this emerging, yet highly competitive market, you’ll constantly engage with prospective clients and stakeholders to fully grasp their needs, understand the whole ecosystem and apply strategic thinking to tailor-make solutions that cater to these requirements. This role entails exposure to a broad spectrum of professionals at all levels and companies from various industries and markets. By working strategically to offer clients sustainable solutions, you genuinely help them move forward towards a greener future.  

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Analyze regulations within the French transportation market with a focus on Revision of the Renewable Energy Directive (REDII) and Fuel Quality Directive (FQD) related topics
  • Understand and define possible business models for STX that are arising from new regulatory changes
  • Execute lean and agile trading setups
  • Create partnerships to leverage opportunities and convert them into a permanent presence across the value chain in the sector
  • Training sales traders on topics related to market structure, sharing the network, and preparing the entire sales team to work the most efficiently
  • Cooperation with other teams working on national transportation markets

KEY REQUIREMENTS

  • 5+ years of work experience in the energy markets with exposure to French regulations on energy, fuels, and transportation
  • Extensive Fuel market exposure, direct or indirect network is preferred
  • Trade oriented, commercial and opportunistic mindset
  • Fluent French speaker in a business level, and fluent in English
  • Analytical, critical and strategic thinking combined with the capability of doing research and analysis to contribute to company growth efforts
  • Collaborative work style
  • Living or willing to move to (the surrounding area of) Lyon
