How it Works

Step 1

SAF is produced from waste feedstock, representing ~60-85% lower life cycle emissions compared to fossil jet.

Step 2

When SAF is blended with fossil jet fuel, the environmental attribute (SAFc) is decoupled from the underlying physical SAF volume.

Step 3

The blended fuel is uplifted into an aircraft and treated as ‘regular’ fossil jet, while SAFc are separately tracked in a public registry.

Step 4

The owner of the SAFc can retire the credit and make an emission claim for that year’s emission reporting.
