​TEAM AND ROLE 

​The Trading Analyst plays a key role in supporting the EU Renewable Natural Gas trading desk by transforming market data into actionable trading insights and commercial opportunities. You will become a specialist in the European biomethane market, ensuring STX maintains sharp market views and confidence to act decisively. STX has a risk mandate for biomethane and the Trading Analyst’s principal goal is to advise the book on how to position itself correctly to capture upside from market volatility. 

​Working closely with traders, analysts, policy and sustainability specialists across several product groups, you will combine quantitative analysis, market fundamentals, and commercial judgement to form directional views and trading  strategies for the desk. As the team increasingly leverages AI and automation, you must be tech savvy to manage and enhance data-driven workflows and analytical tools. 

​This is an ideal opportunity for someone with a strong analytical background who is passionate about trading and wants to deepen their skills and knowledge of trading within a front-office trading team. 

​KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

• ​Analyze market fundamentals, pricing, regulatory developments, and other relevant data to identify trading opportunities and develop market views. Provide clear, actionable trading advice that contributes to P&L generation; 
• ​Build, maintain, and improve models, analytical tools, and AI driven workflows that support trading decisions;
• ​Spar with Traders and Analysts to improve model inputs and figure out potential trade ideas; 
• ​Develop market views and communicate insights to traders and commercial teams;  
• ​Contribute to projects that enhance the desk’s analytical and commercial capabilities. 

​KEY REQUIREMENTS 

• ​3–7 years of experience in a trading, market analysis, quantitative, or related role;  
• ​Strong analytical and modelling skills with the ability to work with complex datasets;  
• ​Commercially minded with a genuine interest in trading and markets;  
• ​Comfortable forming independent views and making decisions despite uncertainty or incomplete data; 
• ​Experience leveraging AI, automation, and data-driven insights to improve decision making and drive commercial value;
• Self-starter with a proactive and ownership-driven mindset;  
• ​Strong communication skills and the ability to translate analysis into actionable insights;  
• ​Fluent in English.
