Minimal Infrastructure Investment, Maximum Sustainability Impact: RENEWABLE NATURAL GAS

Reduce Scope 1 Emissions without Additional Infrastructure Investments

Biomethane, or Renewable Natural Gas (RNG), is a flexible solution that helps you reduce your Scope 1 emissions without hefty infrastructure costs. Biomethane can be injected directly into the existing natural gas network, offering a 1:1 replacement for fossil natural gas.

Along with the growth of the EV industry, biomethane is an efficient renewable fuel with an essential role in global decarbonization. By advocating it to your supply chain, you can also contribute to your Scope 3 reduction goals.

STRIVE by STX brings you bespoke biomethane and RNG solutions with minimal infrastructure costs and maximum impact on emission reductions.

Our Renewable Gas Offering

STRIVE by STX can supply biomethane or RNG solutions to help you not only reduce your Scope 1 emissions, but also contribute to your Scope 3 reduction goals. Like energy attribute certificates for Scope 2 emissions reductions, we can transfer renewable gas certificates to you, or retire them on your behalf. STRIVE by STX can support your decarbonization journey through our:

All-round Market Access

Our access to all geographies and up- and downstream market players allow us to de-risk and optimize your portfolio.

Bespoke Deal Structuring Capability

We can absorb and provide flexibility as needed, incl. supplier flexibility.

Adjacent Market Presence

We have trading & commercial presence in adjacent markets to understand market movements.

Regulatory Expertise

We bring our clients deep understanding of certification schemes, local regulations and subsidies combined with strong R&A capability.

Benefits of Renewable Natural Gas

Reduced Scope 1 & 3 Emissions

Purchasing biomethane or renewable natural gas is an effective strategy for decarbonizing your Scope 1 emissions, without requiring expensive capital investments. By encouraging your suppliers to switch to biomethane, you can further reduce your footprint and enhance your sustainability efforts.

No Infrastructure Investment

As biomethane has the same molecular composition as fossil natural gas, it can be used in the existing natural gas infrastructure.

Low-emission Transport Fuel Alternative

In its liquified or compressed versions, biomethane can be utilized as a transport fuel, further reducing our dependencies on fossil fuels.

Embrace a green corporate identity by improving your environmental performance and supporting the development of a circular economy, where waste is turned into a valuable resource.

renewable gas solutions for suppliers

  • What is RNG or renewable gas?
Renewable Natural Gas, or RNG, is created through anaerobic digestion of organic matter (feedstock), sharing the same molecular composition as fossil natural gas. Its carbon intensity, determined through Life Cycle Accounting, can range from low-carbon to carbon-negative.
  • Renewable natural gas vs biomethane: what is the difference?
Biomethane is a term used interchangeably with renewable natural gas (RNG). Biomethane is a term often used for biogas upgraded to natural gas quality. RNG, with a broader scope, can serve various purposes beyond energy, like transportation fuel, while both contribute to reducing carbon emissions.
  • How is renewable gas produced?
Renewable gas is produced from organic waste materials and then cleaned from impurities and upgraded to a sustainable and environmentally friendly alternative to traditional natural gas. This process helps reduce waste and greenhouse gas emissions while providing a renewable energy source.
  • What is a Proof of Sustainability (PoS) certification?
In addition to the biomethane certificate, a separate certification called PoS (Proof of Sustainability from ISCC or REDcert) is a document that ensures that the entire value chain from feedstock to delivery has been tracked and carbon Intensity is accounted for.
  • Why invest in biomethane or renewable natural gas?
Investing in biomethane or renewable natural gas aligns with sustainability goals while maintaining economic viability. RNG is a drop in fuel, meaning it’s a direct replacement for fossil natural gas. It can therefore work in existing natural gas infrastructures, making it an easy, eco-friendly alternative to fossil gas. It is also an efficient way for companies to reduce their Scope 1 emissions, even in hard-to-abate sectors like Transport or Industry.
