TEAM AND ROLE:

Our Biofuels, Feedstocks & Tickets business is scaling rapidly in volume, product scope and complexity, operating at the intersection of physical commodities, financial instruments and compliance markets.
We are strengthening our Trade Control / Mid Office function and are looking for an analytically strong, commercially minded Trade Control Analyst (3–5 years’ experience) who wants to apply their skill set in a high impact, build out environment. This role goes beyond traditional “control checks”. You will play a key role in building robust, reliable and scalable trade control processes and systems in a fast changing trading platform.

This is not a “steady state” trade control role. You will help shape how trade control works going forward in a growing, evolving trading platform, with direct exposure to senior stakeholders and real influence on process and system design. For the right profile, this role offers significant ownership, learning and progression, whether your longer term ambition lies deeper in control and risk, or closer to the commercial side of the trading lifecycle.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Own daily trade control across product: Ensure accurate, timely and complete trade capture across physical, financial and ticket products, including disciplined handling of amendments and exceptions.
  • Safeguard positions and P&L quality: Perform daily position and P&L sense checks, investigate anomalies and ensure results are explainable, credible and fit for daily sign off.
  • Maintain market data and valuation integrity: Monitor spot and forward curves, pricing assumptions and reference data; challenge outcomes that do not reflect economic or contractual reality.
  • Act as a true mid office partner: Work closely with Front Office, Trade Operations, Risk, Finance and Tech — providing constructive challenge where required, while remaining commercially pragmatic.
  • Improve controls through systems and automation: Contribute actively to ETRM development, reporting improvements and automation initiatives, with the explicit goal of reducing manual work and control breaks.
  • Support growth and new activity: Ensure trade control requirements are embedded in new products, structures and process changes as the platform continues to evolve.

KEY REQUIREMENTS

  • 3–5 years’ experience in Trade Control, Product Control, Middle Office, Risk or a closely related role within a commodity trading or trading adjacent environment.
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills with a proven ability to work with complex data and tight deadlines.
  • Solid commercial awareness — you understand how trades actually make money (and where they go wrong).
  • Advanced Excel skills; experience with Python, SQL or BI tools is a strong advantage.
  • Comfortable operating in a constructive challenge role towards Front Office and senior stakeholders.
  • Experience with ETRM systems or strong system affinity is a clear plus.
  • Fluent in English; Dutch is an advantage.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

  • Competitive remuneration package
  • Pension scheme contributions
  • Strong focus on personal and professional development
  • Sport and training opportunities
  • Assistance with relocation to the respective office location

DIVERSITY STATEMENT

We encourage and welcome applications from candidates of diverse backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives to enhance our team and contribute to a more inclusive work environment. Diversity, inclusion, and belonging are more than just concepts. They are part of our everyday work culture, ensuring employees feel welcomed and build meaningful connections.

At STX, we ask applicants to think holistically about roles. If the roles sounds exciting and a great fit for you, but some of the criteria or required experience doesn’t 100% line up, we still encourage you to apply!
