ABOUT THE FRONT OFFICE

ABOUT THE TEAM & ROLE
You will join a leading Renewable Natural Gas Trading desk, covering Biomethane, Bio-LNG and various other compliance products globally, that is constantly re-inventing itself and pushing the boundaries of what it means to be a best-in-class environmental commodity trader. In this role, you will own our regional growth journey by framing, shaping and owning execution of strategic business building and commercial opportunities, in the midst of a rapidly developing and growing biomethane market. You will report directly to and work closely with senior leadership, whilst collaborating across functions.
The Renewable Gas Desk has grown to be one of the key trading desks in the business. Today, our mission is: to be a catalyst in the development of the environmental markets. This means helping customers facing difficulties in achieving their environmental targets. We facilitate the transition from fossil fuels to renewable alternatives and as a Senior Trader (m/f/d), you will work directly with utilities, corporates, biomethane producers and other wholesale trading parties amongst others. The European market is large and complex market which is why the role entails a high level of analytical skills combined with great interpersonal ability. You’ll be responsible for developing an in-depth understanding of the supply/demand, market requirements, trading flows, counterparties, structured solutions, and ultimately generating deal flow for the book.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Own business and PnL accountability for STX’s French Renewable Gas activity from day one, originating deals across biomethane, e-methane, bio-LNG and related compliance products, and building a pipeline of structural supply and demand positions in the market.
• Lead supply & demand analysis (together with the R&A team) and market development, understanding the value drivers of renewable gas projects, monitoring the French and EU regulatory landscape, and translating market and policy insight into commercial strategy.
• Take end-to-end responsibility for deal structuring, including risk mitigation and embedding optionality into the portfolio over time, and negotiate contracts such as EFET, STA, MA, Tolls and Swaps.
• Build STX’s local presence and brand through active travel and relationship management with key counterparties, regulators and industry bodies, while managing market, credit and operational risk within mandated limits.
• Establish STX as a participant in the French market and, as the business grows, take on responsibility for building, mentoring and leading a team and setting the commercial direction.
KEY REQUIREMENTS
• At least 6 years of commercial experience in either trading, sales, origination or business development, ideally in connection with commodities, especially biomethane, gas and/or biofuels experience.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in business, economics or STEM.
• Analytical mind, outstanding communication skills, collaborative and proactive.
• Native French speaker with Fluent English – additional languages are a plus (especially Spanish and Italian).
• Living or willing to relocate to Amsterdam, Netherlands.
