Your success story starts here…

TEAM AND ROLE:

STX is building the digital and data infrastructure that powers global decarbonization.

As a Staff Data Engineer, you’ll architect and evolve the modern data platform that connects every part of the trading lifecycle – from origination and risk management through trading, settlement, reporting, and analytics.

Your mission: design the backbone that enables data reliability, interoperability, and intelligence across the organization.

You’ll combine deep technical expertise with systems – level thinking – defining how data is modeled, governed, and delivered at scale – while mentoring teams to build on a consistent, trusted foundation. This is a hands-on, high-impact role for an engineer who thrives on transforming complexity into clarity and systems into strategy.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Architect and evolve STX’s cloud-native data platform encompassing ingestion, transformation, storage, and delivery across the full trading lifecycle.
  • Define and implement canonical data models, APIs, and governance frameworks to ensure consistency, scalability, and transparency.
  • Lead development of streaming and batch data pipelines using modern tools such as Airflow, dbt, Kafka, and Spark.
  • Partner cross-functionally with analysts, engineers, and data scientists to design reusable data services and self-serve capabilities.
  • Establish observability and quality frameworks to maintain data trust, reliability, and compliance across all environments.
  • Contribute to long-term data and AI strategy, ensuring readiness for intelligent automation and advanced analytics.

KEY REQUIREMENTS

  • 10+ years’ experience in data engineering, architecture, or platform engineering with a proven record of building scalable data systems.
  • Expert proficiency in Python and SQL, with familiarity in modern cloud ecosystems (AWS preferred), infrastructure-as-code (Terraform/CDK), and containerized environments.
  • Deep knowledge of modern data stack tools including Airflow, dbt, Snowflake/Redshift/BigQuery, Kafka/Kinesis, and Spark.
  • Strong understanding of data modeling, governance, lineage, and security principles for enterprise-scale platforms.
  • Demonstrated leadership in defining architectural standards and patterns that promote operational excellence and scalability.
  • Exceptional communication and mentorship skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into business value.
  • You are living in the Netherlands
