TEAM AND ROLE:

This position will be the first team lead within the Physical Operations team, focusing initially on FAME and HVO operations and later expanding to cover all feedstocks and biofuels. The role reports directly to the Trade Operations Manager – Biofuels and acts as their right hand, taking ownership of day-to-day operational management and ensuring business continuity. The team lead will provide guidance, structure, and oversight to a group of experienced operators, while remaining hands-on with daily execution.

The role works closely with traders and key internal stakeholders — including compliance, finance, sustainability, and risk — to ensure smooth execution of all physical trades, alignment on commercial priorities, and proactive management of operational risks. This position is central to building a scalable, high-performing operations function, balancing leadership responsibilities with operational depth and contributing to the long-term development of both the team and the biofuels business.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead day-to-day physical operations for FAME and HVO, expanding over time to all feedstocks and biofuels.
  • Oversee full deal execution (contract terms, settlements, cargo planning, documentation) and maintain strong relationships with surveyors, terminals, and logistics partners.
  • Manage supply planning, stock forecasting, and ensure accurate communication with traders and internal/external stakeholders.
  • Prepare and deliver management reports, KPIs, and budget performance updates, while driving continuous improvement and risk mitigation across operations.
  • Provide team leadership: coaching, workload coordination, performance reviews, and strengthening the team’s backup structure.

KEY REQUIREMENTS

  • 5–10 years of experience in liquid bulk or biofuels operations, ideally in a trading environment.
  • Strong expertise in physical deal execution, logistics coordination, EFP processes, and cargo documentation.
  • Comfortable taking the lead and helping others grow, while staying involved in day-to-day tasks.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills, combined with a high sense of ownership, reliability, and accountability.
  • Fluent in English; Dutch or Spanish language skills are an advantage.
