Rien qu&#8217;en 2022, la production mondiale d&#8217;ammoniac a \u00e9t\u00e9 estim\u00e9e \u00e0 environ 150 millions de tonnes m\u00e9triques. La m\u00eame ann\u00e9e, <strong>l&#8217;industrie chimique, y compris la production d&#8217;ammoniac, a \u00e9t\u00e9 responsable d&#8217;environ 1,3 Gt de CO2, ce qui repr\u00e9sente environ 4 % des \u00e9missions mondiales de carbone<\/strong>. Cela \u00e9quivaut aux \u00e9missions annuelles d&#8217;environ 282,6 millions de v\u00e9hicules de tourisme. Cette contribution significative aux \u00e9missions mondiales met en \u00e9vidence l&#8217;impact environnemental de la production d&#8217;ammoniac et l&#8217;importance de la d\u00e9carbonisation de cette activit\u00e9.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>L&#8217;empreinte carbone \u00e9lev\u00e9e du processus de production fait de la production d&#8217;ammoniac un contributeur majeur au changement climatique. Aujourd&#8217;hui, l&#8217;ammoniac est principalement utilis\u00e9 dans les engrais, tels que l&#8217;ur\u00e9e, le phosphate d&#8217;ammonium et les engrais complexes. \u00c0 l&#8217;avenir, l&#8217;ammoniac devrait \u00e9galement jouer un r\u00f4le crucial dans les carburants marins, contribuant ainsi \u00e0 la d\u00e9carbonisation de l&#8217;industrie maritime. L&#8217;une des principales est la loi am\u00e9ricaine sur <strong>la r\u00e9duction de l&#8217;inflation (IRA)<\/strong>, qui non seulement encourage les \u00e9nergies propres par des mesures telles que les cr\u00e9dits d&#8217;imp\u00f4t pour la production d&#8217;hydrog\u00e8ne propre, mais s&#8217;aligne \u00e9galement sur les objectifs de l&#8217;administration Biden en mati\u00e8re de justice environnementale et d&#8217;att\u00e9nuation du changement climatique. Cette loi a incit\u00e9 de nombreuses entreprises chimiques, en particulier celles qui produisent de l&#8217;ammoniac dont l&#8217;hydrog\u00e8ne est la principale mati\u00e8re premi\u00e8re, \u00e0 investir dans des installations de production d&#8217;hydrog\u00e8ne propre, faisant ainsi progresser la production d&#8217;ammoniac vert.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>De m\u00eame, en Europe, l&#8217;impact des politiques et des r\u00e9glementations sur les industries chimiques et de l&#8217;ammoniac s&#8217;accro\u00eet, en particulier avec des m\u00e9canismes tels que <strong>le syst\u00e8me d&#8217;\u00e9change de quotas d&#8217;\u00e9mission de l&#8217;UE (ETS) et <a href=\"https:\/\/stxgroup.com\/strive\/service\/cbam\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">le m\u00e9canisme d&#8217;ajustement aux fronti\u00e8res pour le carbone (CBAM)<\/a><\/strong>. En 2023, 564 entreprises dont le secteur primaire est identifi\u00e9 comme \u00e9tant celui des produits chimiques ont communiqu\u00e9 publiquement au <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdp.net\/en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">CDP<\/a>. En outre, 209 entreprises chimiques se sont engag\u00e9es dans le <a href=\"https:\/\/sciencebasedtargets.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">SBTi<\/a>, et 114 d&#8217;entre elles ont approuv\u00e9 des objectifs. Cela t\u00e9moigne d&#8217;un mouvement croissant de l&#8217;ensemble de l&#8217;industrie vers la d\u00e9carbonisation, soulign\u00e9 par des initiatives des secteurs public et priv\u00e9.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><strong>Des voies viables pour d\u00e9carboniser la production d&#8217;ammoniac<\/strong><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Comme indiqu\u00e9 ci-dessus, il existe plusieurs strat\u00e9gies pour d\u00e9carboniser efficacement l&#8217;industrie de l&#8217;ammoniac, notamment l&#8217;achat direct d&#8217;hydrog\u00e8ne vert, le captage et le stockage du carbone (CSC) ou l&#8217;utilisation de gaz naturel renouvelable (GNR).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Le gaz naturel renouvelable (GNR), qui est chimiquement et physiquement identique au gaz naturel conventionnel (CH4), est produit par la digestion ana\u00e9robie de mati\u00e8res organiques renouvelables telles que les r\u00e9sidus agricoles, les cultures \u00e9nerg\u00e9tiques ou le fumier. En rempla\u00e7ant le m\u00e9thane traditionnel par du GNR, les entreprises produisent de l&#8217;ammoniac \u00e0 faible teneur en carbone, sans modifier les processus et les installations ni avoir d&#8217;incidence sur les d\u00e9penses d&#8217;investissement. En outre, lorsque le GNR est associ\u00e9 \u00e0 des technologies de capture et de stockage du carbone, il contribue \u00e0 la cr\u00e9ation d&#8217;hydrog\u00e8ne &#8220;bleu&#8221; ou d&#8217;ammoniac &#8220;bleu&#8221;, ce qui renforce son r\u00f4le d&#8217;outil essentiel pour atteindre les objectifs de d\u00e9carbonisation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Le processus de production de biom\u00e9thane \u00e0 partir de ces mati\u00e8res riches en carbone, comme les mati\u00e8res premi\u00e8res ou les mati\u00e8res organiques, est tr\u00e8s important. Lorsque ces mati\u00e8res se d\u00e9composent naturellement, elles lib\u00e8rent du m\u00e9thane, un puissant gaz \u00e0 effet de serre, dans l&#8217;atmosph\u00e8re. Cependant, au cours du processus de production du biom\u00e9thane, ces \u00e9missions sont captur\u00e9es. Le carbone lib\u00e9r\u00e9 lors de la combustion du biom\u00e9thane fait partie d&#8217;un cycle \u00e9quilibr\u00e9 du carbone, neutralis\u00e9 par le carbone absorb\u00e9 lors de la croissance des plantes qui constituent sa mati\u00e8re premi\u00e8re, cr\u00e9ant ainsi un cycle en boucle ferm\u00e9e.
