The operations function forms the backbone of any company. At STX, the Operations team, which comprises of Technology, Trade Operations, Finance, Compliance, Legal and Human Resources, works closely with all other teams and desks to ensure that STX continues to perform and deliver at an exceptionally high level. As a critical partner in the business, Operations also guarantees compliance with all the relevant rules and regulations. Moreover, the Operations team works collaboratively to make sure that STX has the necessary structures and processes in place to grow and develop further in new products, industries and markets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain cutting-edge trading systems and supporting tools, contributing to our mission of sustainability and transparency.
  • Design, implement, and enhance features within a distributed microservices architecture, ensuring scalability and reliability.
  • Actively participate in gathering business requirements and collaborating on technical designs for effective solutions.
  • Conduct peer code reviews to maintain code quality and foster continuous improvement within the development team.
  • Liaise with various business stakeholders, including Sales, Trading, Operations, Risk, and Finance, to align technical solutions with business objectives.
  • Take ownership of project deliverables, ensuring successful and timely completion.

Key Requirements

  • A minimum of 5+ years of hands-on experience in Python development, demonstrating a strong command of the language and its libraries.
  • Experience with Commodities Trading or Financial Markets software, indicating your understanding of industry-specific requirements.
  • Experience with other programming languages is a plus, showcasing your adaptability and versatility in software development.
  • Proficiency in working with microservices architecture and a track record of delivering successful projects in such environments.
  • Familiarity with relational databases, preferably Postgres, and the ability to design efficient data models.
  • Strong experience in web development, preferably using Python and FastAPI, to build robust and performant APIs.
  • Knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, or AWS is a plus, demonstrating your familiarity with modern deployment and cloud technologies.
  • Familiarity with RESTful API design principles to develop efficient and scalable APIs.
  • Knowledge of Kafka is a plus, showcasing your expertise in handling event-driven architecture.
  • Demonstrated ability to work closely with stakeholders, translating business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Proven track record of effective collaboration in development teams and multidisciplinary project settings, as well as the ability to work independently.
  • Currently living in (the area of) Amsterdam or willing to relocate to join our thriving team.
  • Excellent command of the English language.
