ABOUT OPERATIONS

The operations function forms the backbone of any company. At STX, the Operations team, which comprises IT, Finance, Human Resources, and Middle Office, works closely with all other teams and desks to ensure that STX continues to perform and deliver at an exceptionally high level. As a critical partner in the business, Operations also guarantees compliance with all the relevant rules and regulations. Moreover, the Operations team works collaboratively to make sure that STX has the necessary structures and processes in place to grow and develop further in new products, industries, and markets.

ROLE OF A PAYROLL SPECIALIST

As a Payroll Specialist, you will assist the Payroll Manager in the payroll processes of all countries where our offices are based. Of course, we want to pay our employees all over the world their salaries on time and ensure timely and accurate processing of the payroll. This includes collecting and providing payroll data to the local payroll providers and reviewing the completed payroll reports. Currently, our colleagues are based in Amsterdam (HQ), Gothenburg, Hamburg, Madrid, Brussels, Lyon, New York, Mexico, London, Belgium and Singapore, and we are expanding further on a global level.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

On a monthly basis, you are responsible for collecting payroll data from internal departments, organizing, and submitting it to the local payroll provider in a timely and accurate manner, and:

  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of end-to-end payroll for EMEA countries and US, while maintaining strict confidentiality of data
  • Audit and validate payroll input and output reports received from the payroll vendor
  • Continuously evaluate, analyze and streamline payroll processes
  • Create practices to minimize company risk pertaining to payroll tax compliance by country
  • Review monthly payroll output reports to ensure (variable) data is processed correctly.
  • Maintain relations with local payroll providers around payroll processes and other payroll-related communications.
  • Audit and validate payroll input and output reports received from the payroll vendor
  • Keep track of and ensure compliance with all local legislation
  • Carry out regular checks on 30% rulings, work permits and visas.
  • Check monthly changes to our pension provider and insurance
  • Participate in the payroll implementation process for new countries, if needed
  • Prepare and align with the Finance team on payroll reporting.
  • Assist with the annual audit and periodic internal audits on salary-related matters
  • Work together with the HR and Finance Team to implement automation, innovation, and any continuous improvements around the payroll processing and reporting
  • Assist in payroll general ledger accounts reconciliations where applicable

KEY REQUIREMENTS

You have a few years of work experience in a payroll department in a growing organization, and:

  • 3 + years of experience in payroll for the international payroll with a main focus on EMEA countries and experience with USA is advantageous.
  • Proven experience as a Payroll Specialist or HR Administrator
  • Experience with setting up new entities is a plus
  • Strong knowledge of payroll inputs, outputs, and integrated areas.
  • Strong attention to detail and confident decision-making skills
  • Ability to efficiently organize workload and adapt quickly to change
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Fluency in English and Dutch speaking would be a plus
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Pragmatic and results-driven
  • Flexibility to support a global and fast-paced environment
  • Collaborative, self-motivated, and willing to learn
  • Proactive and service orientated.
  • Excellent listening and communication skills, accuracy, and a high level of integrity
  • A multitasker who can prioritize to meet deadlines.
